Responsible for recommending qualified individuals for appointment to the Kansas Supreme Court and the Kansas Court of Appeals.  The Commission only meets when there is a vacancy on the Supreme Court or the Kansas Court of Appeals.  Members may not serve more than two terms.  Statutorily the board must have one non-lawyer from each Congressional District and public members may not hold any other public or political appointed position six months prior to appointment.  All appointments by the governor shall be without regard to the political affiliations of the appointees.
