The State Board of Agriculture serves in an advisory capacity to the Governor and the Secretary of Agriculture to review and make recommendations on department legislative initiatives and proposed rules and regulations. According to statute, one member shall be appointed from each congressional district with the remaining members appointed at large; however, no two members shall reside in the same county at the time of their appointment. At no time shall more than five members of the board be members of the same political party. No officer or employee of the Kansas Department of Agriculture shall be a member of the State Board of Agriculture.
