Over 1,000 Kansans Call for a Hearing
on Medicaid Expansion

TOPEKA
Since Governor Laura Kelly called for a hearing on the Cutting Healthcare Costs for All Kansans Act by today, Kansas Day, 1,020 Kansans have sent 23,710 emails to legislators to demand the House and Senate hold debates on Medicaid expansion.

Legislators failed to hold or schedule a hearing despite the bill being introduced into both chambers over a week ago. These bills were referred to the House Committee on Health and Human Services and to the Senate Committee on Public Health and Welfare— yet neither has taken action.

“More and more Kansans are speaking up and demanding a debate – and then a vote – on Medicaid Expansion,” said Governor Laura Kelly. “It’s time legislators stop ignoring their constituents and act immediately to protect our hospitals, expand affordable health care, and lower healthcare costs. There’s no reason to wait.”

Emails were sent to legislative leadership, committee chairs, and local legislators through the Alliance for a Healthy Kansas site
