Topeka Metro Bus service free to public employees May 6 – 11

Governor Kelly will recognize Public Service Recognition week, Monday, May 6 to Saturday, May 11. Kelly will host a State Employee Quarterly Recognition Ceremony on May 8th and sign a proclamation.

“I’m pleased to recognize and celebrate our state’s employees this week,” Kelly said. “It has been a challenging eight years for the State of Kansas, but I take my job of rebuilding our state very seriously. I can’t do it without all our state employees’ and their hard work.”

Public employees serving on the federal, state, county, or local government level are eligible to receive free rides on the Topeka Metro fixed route buses from Monday, May 6 – Saturday, May 11. Topeka Metro has this promotion annually to celebrate Public Service Recognition Week.

Public employees must show proper identification to the bus operator. Proper identification includes an ID badge or a signed letter on official state government letterhead. For any questions regarding bus routes, please call the Topeka Metro customer service line at (785) 730-7000, or download the phone app ‘Transit App’ to see the Topeka Metro’s routes.
