Governor signs Eudora Community Library District Act, among other legislation

Kansas Governor Laura Kelly signed the following bills into law today:

Senate Bill 40
Removing the expired warning provision for the approach of an emergency vehicle traffic violation. This legislation will become effective upon its publication in the Kansas Statute Book.

Senate Bill 41
Clarifying that violation of the statute requiring seat belt use is a traffic infraction. This legislation will become effective upon its publication in the Kansas Statute Book.

Senate Bill 59
The Eudora Community Library District Act allows the city of Eudora to continue being a part of a library district previously established by the city of Eudora and the Eudora Township. This legislation will become effective upon its publication in the Kansas Register.

House Bill 2097
Providing a method for calculating the cost of keeping civil prisoners in county jail. This legislation will become effective upon its publication in the Kansas Statute Book.

House Bill 2123
Amending the Kansas National Guard Educational Assistance Act; removing the requirement that an eligible member have at least one year remaining on their enlistment contract at the beginning of any semester for which the member receives assistance under the Educational Assistance Program. This legislation will become effective upon its publication in the Kansas Statute Book.

House Bill 2127
Eliminating the marketing requirements for certain truck and truck tractors. This legislation will become effective upon its publication in the Kansas Statute Book.

The Governor has now signed a total of 12 bills into law during the 2019 Legislative Session, with one being vetoed. By law, the Kansas governor has 10 calendar days to sign bills into law, veto bills or allow bills to become law without her signature.
