Governor Kelly Proclaims Red Friday Ahead of
Kansas City Chiefs’ Second Straight Super Bowl Appearance
TOPEKA— Governor Laura Kelly has proclaimed today Red Friday in Kansas in honor of the Kansas City Chiefs’ Super Bowl LVIII appearance this Sunday, February 11. The Chiefs will take on the San Francisco 49ers in Las Vegas, Nevada.
“Since I became governor five years ago, Andy Reid, Patrick Mahomes, and Travis Kelce have led the Chiefs to an unprecedented four Super Bowl appearances,” Governor Laura Kelly said. “It is clear they are building a dynasty that is benefiting the entire region, including here in Kansas. I have bet on the Chiefs many times before, and I am confident that they will reign victorious once again in Las Vegas.”
The game is a rematch of Super Bowl LIV, which took place in 2020. The Chiefs won that matchup after overcoming a 10-point deficit in the fourth quarter to bring home their first Vince Lombardi Trophy in 50 years.
