TOPEKA – Governor Laura Kelly announced today appointments to Kansas state boards and commissions.

Board of Examiners in Optometry

The purpose of the board is to administer and enforce the provisions of Kansas Optometry Law so that the highest quality of eye care is provided to the citizens of Kansas.

  • Dr.  Rebecca Sparks Dougherty, Rose Hill (reappointment)

Capitol Preservation Committee

The purpose of the committee is to approve all proposals for renovation of all areas of the state capitol, the capitol’s visitor center and the grounds surrounding the capitol; preserve the proper décor; assure art or artistic displays are historically accurate; oversee the reconfiguration or redecoration of committee rooms.

Juvenile Justice Oversight Committee

The purpose of the committee is to oversee the implementation of reform measures intended to improve the state’s juvenile justice system.

Kansas Advisory Group on Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention

The purpose of the group is to determine, advocate for, and promote the best interests of juveniles in Kansas. Reflecting its purpose, the Kansas Advisory Group reviews juvenile justice policy, advises policymakers on issues affecting the juvenile justice system; and strives to keep Kansas in compliance with the federal JJDPA act.

Kansas Council for Interstate Adult Offender Supervision

The purpose of the council is to oversee and administer the state’s participation in the Interstate Compact for Adult Offenders; supervision and develop policies concerning the operations and procedures of the compact within the state; enhance public safety by regulating interstate movement and providing effective tracking, supervision, and rehabilitation of criminal offenders.

State Board of Technical Professions

The purpose of the board is to register and license engineers, architects, surveyors, and landscape architects.

State Board of Veterinary Examiners

The mission of the Vet Board is to promotes the health, safety, and welfare by examining and licensing applicants for veterinary medicine. They also inspect and register licensed veterinarians.
