Governor Laura Kelly appointed Doug Louis, Wichita, to the State Board of Technical Professions.

The board is tasked with providing maximum protection to the health, safety and welfare of Kansans by registering and licensing technical professionals to ensure that only qualified persons carry out the practice of engineering, architecture, land surveying, landscape architecture and geology in the state.

“Doug has many years of experience as a geologist and is highly skilled in his field,” Kelly said. “I know that he will take the board’s mission seriously, and welcome his contributions to the board.”

Louis currently serves as the senior geologist and environmental group manager at GSI Engineering. Previously, he worked as a draftsman for Martin Oil Company in Wichita. Louis received his Master of Business Administration and a bachelor’s degree in geology, both from Wichita State University.

The board is made up of 13 members, all appointed by the governor.
