Governor Kelly reappointed Pete Meitzner and Chris Herrick to the Midwest Interstate Passenger Rail Commission.

The commission brings together state leaders from across the region to advocate for passenger rail improvements and to promote, coordinate and support regional improvements to passenger rail service. The commission is comprised of leaders from Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Michigan, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, Ohio and Wisconsin.

“Pete and Chris have served the state well during their time on the commission,” Kelly said. “They are qualified individuals, and I’m pleased that they will be continuing to represent Kansas.”

Meitzner currently serves as a Sedgwick County Commissioner. Previously, he was a member of the Wichita City Council.

Herrick is the director of planning and development for the Kansas Department of Transportation. Herrick received a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the University of Kansas and a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from the University of Minnesota.

The governor’s appointments to this commission are not subject to confirmation by the Kansas Senate.
