Governor Kelly appointed Suzan Barnes and Kevin Fern to the Council on Travel and Tourism.

“The tourism industry is an essential part of our state’s economy,” Kelly said. “I trust that both Suzan and Kevin will be great additions to the council, as they both have long histories of promoting tourism across Kansas.”

The council is working actively on advising the development of new tourist attractions in Kansas and on the expansion of existing tourist attractions.

Barnes, Cottonwood Falls, is the owner of the Grand Central Hotel and a representative for the Travel Industry Association of Kansas.

Fern, Shawnee, is the Executive Director of Visit Shawnee.

The governor’s appointments are not subject to confirmation by the Kansas Senate.
