Governor Laura Kelly appointed Dr. Talal Khan to the University of Kansas Hospital Authority, subject to confirmation by the Senate.
The University of Kansas Hospital Authority is the public oversight body that governs the operations of the hospital for the benefit of the University of Kansas Medical Center, providing high quality patient care and a site for medical and biomedical research.
The authority consists of a 19-member board of directors, 13 of whom are appointed by the governor. Members appointed by the governor shall be representatives of the general public who are recognized for outstanding knowledge and leadership in the fields of finance, business, health-care management, health care providers, legal affairs, education or government.
“Dr. Khan will bring valuable experience and an important perspective to the Authority,” Kelly said. “I am confident he will be an excellent addition to this group.”
Khan, Overland Park, is a professor and chair of anesthesiology at the University of Kansas Medical Center. Additionally, he serves as the president of the University of Kansas Physicians.
