Governor Kelly appointed Courtney Fitzgerald, Shawnee, to the Kansas Complete Count Committee.

The committee was established through an executive order issued by Governor Kelly. The committee serves to coordinate efforts to promote the 2020 Census and encourage a high rate of participation. The next Census begins April 1, 2020.

“It is so important that we achieve an accurate Census count in 2020,” Kelly said. “I’m certain that Courtney’s experience in public relations and information technology will help state government play a vital role in the success of the count statewide.”

Fitzgerald, Shawnee, is currently the communications director and legislative liaison for State of Kansas Office of Information Technology Services. She is the primary contact for all communications regarding the agency and executive branch CITO, as well as legislative outreach contact for OITS and a member of the agency’s management team.

She is a public relations professional with more than a decade of experience that includes strategic planning and messaging, marketing, advertising and media and business relations.

The governor’s appointments to the committee are not subject to confirmation by the Kansas Senate.
