Governor Kelly appointed Dr. Anthony Lewis, Lawrence, to the Kansas African American Affairs Commission.
The commission devises strategies to address the public policy concerns of the African American community through partnerships with state agencies, corporations and foundations. It also assists with programs, grants and research.
“This commission does important work in addressing concerns unique to the African American community in Kansas,” Kelly said. “Dr. Lewis is highly qualified to be an important contributor on this commission.”
Lewis, Lawrence, is currently the superintendent of Lawrence Public Schools. He received his doctorate in educational leadership and policy analysis from the University of Missouri, and a Master of Education in administration from Alabama State University.
The governor’s appointments to the commission are not subject to Senate confirmation.
