Governor Laura Kelly appointed Dr. Cynthia Lane, Kansas City, to the Future of Higher Education Council.

The Future of Higher Education Council is a subcommittee of the Kansas Board of Regents. The Kansas Legislature has directed the Kansas Board of Regents to create a comprehensive three-year, five-year and 10-year plan for higher education for the 2021 legislative session. The Council was formed to review the delivery systems of higher education in the State of Kansas and make recommendations to the Board to ensure that education beyond high schools is accessible to Kansans and that the delivery system is sustainable and aligns with the state’s needs.

“I’ve said since before I was sworn into office that I would ensure all Kansans had access to a high-quality, public education,” Kelly said. “I look forward to the work of this Council, and I’m confident Dr. Lane will play a central role for the group. She brings tremendous experience and expertise to the Council.”

Lane is the chair of the Governor’s Council on Education, a former superintendent for Kansas City, Kansas Public Schools and the CEO of Evolve Education Leadership Consulting.
