Governor Laura Kelly appointed Jim Gillespie, Overland Park, to the Board of Accountancy.

The board licenses and regulates certified public accountants (CPAs), and is a regulatory body authorized to carry out the laws and administrative regulations governing CPAs. The board is disciplinary and has the authority to conduct investigations.

“Jim is a highly qualified accountant with many years of experience,” Kelly said. “His expertise makes him a perfect addition to the board.”

Gillespie is the owner of James F. Gillespie, C.P.A., in Lenexa, and has over 30 years of experience in public accounting. He received a Master of Business Administration from the University of North Dakota and a Bachelor of Business Administration from Wichita State University. Gillespie served in the United States Air Force from 1972 to 1975 on a nuclear weapons combat crew.

The governor appoints all seven members to the board.
