Governor Laura Kelly reappointed Deborah Stidham to the Behavioral Sciences Regulatory Board.

The mission of the board is to protect the public’s health, safety and welfare from unlawful or unprofessional practitioners who fall under the board’s jurisdiction. The board establishes educational and experience-based requirements, as well as rules and regulations for applicants seeking credentialing.

“Mental health impacts nearly everyone at some point in their lives,” Kelly said. “Deborah’s experience in mental health services has been and will continue to be an asset for the board.”

Stidham, Overland Park, is the current director of addiction and residential services for Johnson County Mental Health Center. She was formerly director of addiction and prevention services at the Kansas Department of Social and Rehabilitation Services.

The Board requires that one member shall be a licensed addiction counselor or a licensed clinical addiction counselor. Stidham has been reappointed to her current position as the licensed addiction counselor.
