Governor’s Internship Program

The Governor’s Internship Program is a competitive experience designed to give high-caliber college students or professionals the opportunity to understand the inner workings of state government and contribute to growing and improving the State of Kansas. Interns are able to receive academic credit or can select to receive a salary for their time.

Governor Colyer understands that in order to recruit the best and brightest young leaders into public service, students must first experience through immersion the daily operations of state government, having the responsibility and opportunity to make a difference.

Internships are awarded in the Governor’s Office and throughout executive level State agencies where students will work alongside dedicated staff members in a challenging and rewarding environment. Internships cover a variety of disciplines ranging from graphic design to policy, communications to health care advocates, constituent services to marketing.

During their tenure with state government, all interns will gather for policy briefings, professional development, networking, and more. This series of lectures and interactive sessions will feature Governor’s Office senior staff, cabinet secretaries, policy directors, and an address from the Governor.
