In accordance with Executive Order 10-12, Governor Sam Brownback today ordered flags in Kansas to be flown at half-staff from sun-up to sun-down on Wednesday, Dec. 7 in honor of Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day.
“On this day of remembrance, we honor those who perished in the attack on Pearl Harbor,” said Governor Brownback. “For those who served our nation in World War II, and those who continue their legacy of courage today, we commend and thank those who protect our nation.”
Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day commemorates the attack on Pearl Harbor, Hawaii and honors the memory of the more than 2,000 American sailors, soldiers and Marines who lost their lives on Dec. 7, 1941 following the attack by the Imperial Japanese Navy. The attack on Pearl Harbor forced America’s entry into World War II.
