Governor Sam Brownback today issued a statement in recognition of the National Days of Prayer and Remembrance as proclaimed by President Barack Obama. The National Days of Prayer and Remembrance begin today, Friday, Sept. 9 through Sunday, Sept. 11, 2016.

“This weekend, we pause together as Americans to remember all those who perished on Sept. 11, 2001 and the sacrifice of the courageous first responders who faced certain danger in efforts to save the lives of strangers.

“This is a time for us to come together in a spirit of peace and reconciliation to honor the strength and courage of our nation. It is a time for us to remember, but it is also a time for us to look forward with faith, hope and compassion for others.

“I encourage all Kansans to spend time in prayer and contemplation this weekend, whether in a place of worship or in their neighborhoods and homes.”
