Governor Laura Kelly appointed Dr. Maya Nunley, Wichita, to the Kansas Dental Board.

The purpose of the board is to adopt rules, issue licenses and conduct hearings to revoke or suspend dental licenses.

“Dr. Nunley is a highly qualified dentist, and I believe her years of experience and service with communities make her the perfect candidate for the job,” Kelly said. “We are fortunate to have her expertise on the board.”

Nunley, Wichita, currently is the general dentist at Health Core Clinic in Wichita. A member of the Kansas Dental Association, she previously served as the dental director at E.C. Tyree Health and Dental Clinic, and as the KDA district delegate from 2011-2018. She has been a member of the Wichita District Dental Society, the American Dental Association and the Hispanic Dental Association. She received her Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from Clark Atlanta University in 2004, and graduated from the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Dentistry in 2010.

There are 10 members on the board, all appointed by the governor. The board is composed of dentists, dental hygienists and public members representing different Kansas congressional districts.

The governor’s appointments to the board are not subject to confirmation by the Kansas Senate.
