Topeka – Governor Jeff Colyer today named Kara Zeyer as Communications Director and announced the departure of current director Kendall Marr.
Kara Zeyer (formerly Kara Fullmer) began working with Governor Colyer in August of 2017 as his Deputy Communications Director when he was serving as Lt. Governor of Kansas. She was promoted to the position of Press Secretary when he was sworn in as Governor earlier this year. She holds a bachelor’s degree with honors from Southern Utah University. She grew up the daughter of an Army officer, and originally came to Topeka in 2003 to work for WIBW TV as a news reporter.
“Working with Governor Colyer has been one of the highlights of my life. In the past year we have accomplished many of the goals we laid out, including changing the tone here in Topeka. I am excited to continue listening, serving, and leading with Governor Colyer as we finish out the next five months,” said Zeyer.
Kendall Marr has taken a new position as Communications Director for Bob Stefanowski, Republican candidate for Governor of Connecticut.
“It has been the honor of a lifetime to work for a true leader like Governor Colyer. I am proud of the work our team was able to accomplish over the past few months, and I am confident they will continue to build on the progress they have achieved in the months ahead,” said Kendall Marr.
“I’m appreciative of the great work that Kendall Marr has provided over the past year, and I’d like to wish him well in his future endeavors,” said Governor Colyer, “Kara Zeyer has been a valuable part of our team from the beginning, and I know that she will continue to excel in this new position.”
