Governor Brownback on Tuesday issued the following statement on the passing of Acting Deputy Attorney General Lee J. Davidson on November 8, 2017.

“I’m deeply saddened to hear that Lee passed away. Lee was an outstanding public servant and lawyer, who represented the people of the State of Kansas in important cases with diligence and professionalism,” Governor Brownback said. “Mary and I want to express our greatest sympathy to Lee’s wife Rebecca, his children Holly and Parker, and his other family members, as well as his many colleagues and friends in the Attorney General’s office and throughout the legal profession. Please keep them in your thoughts and prayers.”

The Governor had personally interviewed Lee on several occasions when he was a nominee for judicial appointments, and was scheduled to meet with him again on the day after his untimely passing. He was a current nominee for a vacant seat on the Shawnee County District Court, and his credentials and experience made him a strong candidate for the position.
